Homemade Mac and Cheese


Yummy and delicious and real!  Slightly tweaked old recipe.

1-1 1/4 cup macaroni or other small pasta
2 T butter
2 T flour
3/4 c milk
1/2 c cream
1/4-1/2 t salt
dash pepper
3/4 c cheddar cheese
1/4 c parmesan cheese
1/4 c breadcrumbs

Preheat oven to 350'.  Cook and drain macaroni.  In a saucepan, melt butter, then add flour, salt and pepper.  Stir until blended.  Add 1/2 c milk and cream slowly.  Bring to a boil and boil for 1 minute.   Add cheese and simmer until melted and combined.   Turn down heat and add remaining milk.  Remove from heat.  Pour into a 1.5 or 2 qt casserole dish and top with bread crumbs.

Bake for 15-20 minutes.  Broil briefly to add crunch to the top.
