This one has a bit of a Chinese twist to it - yum!
1-1.5 lbs beef sirloin tips (or stew meat, or steak) cut into 1-inch cubes or smaller
1 T vegetable oil
1 can condensed beef consomme
1/2 c grape juice
2 T soy sauce
1 clove garlic, minced (or 1/4 t garlic powder)
1/4 t salt
1/4 c minced onion
2 T cornstarch
1/4 c water
3-4 c hot cooked rice
Heat oil in pan. Add meat and brown on all sides. Stir in consomme, juice, soy sauce, garlic, onion and salt. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat to a low simmer and simmer for 45-60 mins. Blend cornstarch with water. Gradually stir in to meat. Cook, stirring constantly until thickened. (Make the sauce to your preference of thickness). Boil and stir 1 minute. Serve over rice.
